Below is a list of the colleges and universities that offer an Army ROTC. ROTC - Faulkner University. The Army and Air Force ROTC curriculums strive to develop well- educated junior officers for Active Duty, National Guard and Reserves. Appreciation for democracy and responsible citizenship, leadership and management skills are developed through this program. Courses are available to Faulkner students through partnerships with Auburn Montgomery and Alabama State University. The ROTC curriculum is divided into two course levels: a General Military Course (Basic Course) open to all freshmen and sophomoresan Officer Development Course (Advanced Course) for contracted juniors, seniors, and graduate students. General Military Course (Basic Course)A student undecided about pursuing a commission may keep this option open by participation in the General Military Course along with his or her chosen curriculum. Auburn University’s Tradition of Training. Auburn University Army ROTC embodies an exceptional microcosm. There is no military obligation connected with enrolling in freshman and sophomore years. Army Development Course (Advanced Course)Successful completion of the General Military course or commensurate training is a prerequisite for enrollment in the Army Officer Development Course. The student will not always be restricted to the classroom. Students could find themselves rafting down a river, determining their location on a land navigation course, firing an M1. A2 rifle on a military range, or becoming familiar with Army social traditions. Army ROTC Benefits. Four, three, and two- year scholarships are available directly through the Professor of Military Science at AUM. Scholarships cover full- tuition (in or out- of- state), $6. Air Force Professional Officer Course (POC)After completing the General Military Course (GMC), a student may be selected for the Professional Officer Course (POC). Selection is based upon satisfactory performance on the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test (AFOQT), passing an Air Force medical evaluation and completing a four- week summer field training session. A student may also enter into the POC if he has two academic years remaining in full- time student status, either at the undergraduate or graduate level, or a combination of both with a minimum GPA of 2. The field training usually takes place during the summer between the sophomore and junior years. All summer field training costs are paid by the Air Force; and, in addition, the student will receive a salary. The student must be a citizen of the United States or must obtain citizenship prior to POC entry and must possess sound moral character. If a cadet desires to be a pilot or navigator designee, he or she must be able to complete commissioning requirements prior to age 2. All other cadets must be able to complete all commissioning requirements by age 3. A cadet who enrolls in the Professional Officer Course agrees to accept a commission as a second lieutenant and to serve for a period of four years on active duty. The AFROTC scholarship program and benefits. Cadets who are admitted to the Professional Officer Course receive $3. Cadets enrolled in the POC may travel free on a military aircraft on a space- available basis. All AFROTC uniforms and course materials are provided by the Air Force at no cost to students. Scholarships are available to qualified cadets participating in either the four- year or two- year program. Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis, and an applicant’s academic major and potential active- duty career field are taken into consideration. AFROTC scholarships cover full tuition, laboratory and incidental fees and provide an allowance for books. Scholarship cadets also receive a nontaxable allowance each month, starting in their sophomore year.
